USA 574 is a Simon Rogers designed prototype.
Mini Transats are subject to a box rule limiting size, draft, appendages and stability, while other parts of the boat have no restrictions. The boats are fairly similar, allowing for very competitive racing. In the last Transat race, the leader-board changed daily, which increased attention and interest worldwide.
USA 574 has a canting keel, and a mast almost ’40 feet high. Made of high-tech lightweight carbon fiber with a nomex core, the boat is extremely light and can achieve speeds up to 25 knots, and travel up to 300 miles in 24 hours.
